Bio

Richard Cordray served as the first Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau under President Obama, returning over $12 billion to 30 million Americans and handling 1.3 million consumer complaints. Previously, he was Ohio's Attorney General and Treasurer, recovering over $2 billion for Ohio residents and leading the state's financial activities. He has argued seven cases before the U.S. Supreme Court and clerked for Justices Byron White and Anthony Kennedy. He recently joined the Board of Directors at Invela, which is developing innovative solutions to enable open banking. Rich graduated from Michigan State, Oxford University, and University of Chicago Law School. He is the author of Watchdog and lives in Grove City, Ohio with his wife Peggy and twin children Danny and Holly.
